What is the Oldham Mumps Improving Connections project?
The Oldham Mumps Improving Connections project aims to enhance public transport and active travel links around Oldham Mumps by improving bus journey times, upgrading active travel infrastructure, and establishing better connections to the various transport modes and future developments in and around this busy hub. The project focuses on enhancing journey reliability, quality, safety, and air quality, whilst promoting walking and cycling.
How will the project be funded?
Grant funding for the project is provided by the Department for Transport’s City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS). This funding has been secured by Oldham Council for this project and can’t be spent on other areas of work.

The project will implement measures to streamline and prioritise bus journeys in the area and reduce delays, ensuring faster and more reliable bus services through the Oldham Mumps area.
What improvements to active travel infrastructure are planned?
Planned upgrades include improved walking and cycling paths, new dedicated cycling lanes, and improved crossing facilities to ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for pedestrians and cyclists.
Will the project improve connections to town centre educational facilities?
Yes, the project includes improvements to transport links into the town centre and it facilities, as well as onward travel by bus or Metrolink via the Mumps Interchange and Oldham Mumps tram stop.
