Quality of life is affected by the local environment. Addressing amenity and tackling pollution will have impacts on health and wellbeing and the environment. The purpose of these policies is to maintain, protect and enhance living and working conditions that will maintain a high standard of amenity for all users and occupiers.
The policies listed below are designed to support protecting the local environment in Oldham. A brief outline of them is given under each heading.
Policy LE1 – Ensuring a High Standard of Amenity in New Development:
Policy LE1 outlines that developments are expected to provide a high standard of protection from noise pollution and vibration. The policy sets out how noise and vibration and traffic movements should be considered.
Policy LE2 - Ground Conditions and Contaminated Land:
Policy LE2 addresses contaminated land and land stability and what assessments and mitigation may be required.
Policy LE3 - Air Quality:
Policy LE3 outlines the Council's commitment to improving air quality in the borough. The policy sets out details of how developments will be assessed and when a sir quality assessment is likely to be required.
