The Local Plan

<h1 class="page-heading">Have your say on our Budget plans</h1><p>We&#39;re setting our budget for 2024/25, and we want residents, businesses and our communities to send in ideas on how we best spend and save money. </p><p>Please fill in our survey and let us know your thoughts. </p><p>The consultation will run from today, Monday 15 January, until Friday 9 February 2024.</p><p>Councillors will then make a final decision on budget proposals at Budget Council on February 28.</p><p> </p>

A brief summary of them is given under each heading.</p><ul><li>Policy OL1: Consideration for the Peak District National Park:<ul><li style="margin-left: 20px;">This policy acknowledges the proximity and importance of the Peak District National Park to Oldham, emphasising the need for development to consider and respect the park&#39;s distinctive character.</li></ul></li><li>Policy OL2: Protecting and Enhancing Oldham&#39;s Green Belt:<ul><li style="margin-left: 20px;">Recognising the vital role of Green Belt areas in preserving the character and identity of Oldham, this policy is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing these valuable spaces. By imposing strict controls on inappropriate development within the Green Belt, we aim to protect the natural beauty, biodiversity, and recreational opportunities that these areas afford to our community..</li></ul></li><li>Policy OL3: Extensions and Alterations to Existing Buildings within the Green Belt:<ul><li style="margin-left: 20px;">Balancing the need for development with the preservation of the Green Belt, this policy provides guidelines for extensions and alterations to existing buildings within these protected areas. By carefully managing changes to built structures, we aim to ensure that any development respects and complements the surrounding natural environment, maintaining the integrity of the Green Belt.</li></ul></li><li>Policy OL4: Local Green Space:<ul><li style="margin-left: 20px;">This policy highlights the importance of protecting Local Green Spaces&mdash;areas with special significance to the local community. By providing safeguards for these areas, we aim to preserve their value and foster a sense of local identity and well-being.</li></ul></li><li>Policy OL5: Protecting Dark Skies and Tranquillity:<ul><li style="margin-left: 20px;">In recognition of the cultural and environmental importance of dark skies and tranquillity, this policy seeks to limit light pollution and disturbances that may compromise these qualities.
