It makes sure that applications are complete and clear, which helps our planning officers make decisions more quickly. Without it, the process can take longer. Some requirements are set by the government, but we can also include local ones to meet Oldham’s needs and follow planning rules.
The checklist is designed to give applicants clear guidance from the start, helping to avoid delays. Government advice says councils should review their checklists regularly and ask for feedback when making changes. Our draft includes both national requirements and local ones we think are important to properly assess applications.
