Site Wide Coding: Movement and Public Realm
Beal Valley and Broadbent Moss will be designed in a way to be as accessible and easy to navigate as possible. This will be achieved through promoting the use of public transport, walking, wheeling, and cycling with the intention for the car to not dominate the streetscenes. The public realm will reflect the built form of the site to ensure that a sense of place is created and that public spaces reflect the needs of the local community.
All the streets designed within the Draft SPD follow the Greater Manchester Streets for All Design Guide which covers the themes of ‘Well Connected, ‘Public Transport’ and ‘Active Travel’.
This chapter includes information on the following:
Movement;
Public realm; and
Design principles for each type of street proposed as part of the street and space hierarchy.
