Chadderton has been selected as one of just 55 towns across the UK to receive a £20 million investment over the next 10 years as part of the Government’s Plan for Neighbourhoods Programme (formerly the Long-Term Plan for Towns). This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to shape the future of our town together.
💡 What is the Plan for Neighbourhoods?
The programme is designed to put local people in the driving seat. It’s about giving communities the power, funding, and tools to make long-term improvements that matter most to them. This programme is about revitalising local areas. It focuses on three core goals:
Thriving Places – investing in infrastructure, public spaces, and local economies to create vibrant, liveable neighbourhoods.
Stronger Communities – supporting local organisations, volunteers, and networks that bring people together and build resilience.
Taking Back Control – empowering residents to shape decisions, set priorities, and lead change in their own communities.
💷 What’s the Investment?
Chadderton will receive:
£20 million over 10 years
Approximately £1.4 million in capital and £600,000 in revenue funding each year
This funding will support projects chosen by the community, projects that reflect your priorities and aspirations.
🧭 Who’s Leading the Work?
The Chadderton Neighbourhood Board has been established to lead the development and delivery of the plan. It brings together local residents, community leaders, businesses, councillors and public sector partners.
The Board is chaired by Laura Windsor-Welsh, Oldham Director at Action Together CIO.
The Board’s role is to:
Develop a 10-year vision and a 4-year investment plan
Engage with residents to understand what matters most
Oversee delivery and ensure accountability
Unlock further investment through regeneration powers
This consultation is now closed.
Thank you to everyone who took part in shaping Chadderton's Future Vision questionnaire.
